Divine Ascension and David Van Pelt have parted ways. David has decided to step down as a member of Divine Ascension and focus on other musical endeavours. The band wishes David the absolute best with his future in music! They also would like to assure fans that the band is stronger than ever and album 3 is nearing completion with Jennifer in the studio currently tracking vocals. The band will also be featuring three of the brand new tracks at the upcoming Scorching Steel Festival in Melbourne next month.
A message from David:
After seven fantastic years, two albums, two tours of Australia and a full tour of Europe it is with a heavy heart that I have decided to vacate my position as keysman of Divine Ascension.
This is not a decision I have taken lightly. Rather, something that has deeply occupied my thoughts for most of 2017. My other musical endeavours have recently begun to occupy the vast majority of my time to the point that future gig/tour clashes with DA would be inevitable. This is unfair on my brothers and sister in DA and as such I have decided the only fair thing to do is vacate my position.
The hardest thing about leaving a band is that you not only leave the music behind, but you leave great friends, terrific fans and a musical family that I was very proud to be part of. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the fans both here in Australia and overseas for their ongoing support of DA and remind them that a killer album three is coming their way.
To my brothers and sister in DA, thank you for your friendship, your creativity and your patience with my love of 80s hair metal and vintage keyboards. It has been nothing short of a privilege to share the stage with such brilliant musicians and I am truly honoured to call you my friends. While our paths may be deviating at the moment, I am certain they will indeed cross again.
